A well-attended Advent Breakfast held recently at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tamaqua focused on community togetherness. The breakfast was sponsored by the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce, Tamaqua Area Community Partnership and Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network (TAFFN). The event also featured special music by the Bethlehem Area Moravian Trombone Choir, directed and conducted by Don Kemmerer, the trombone choir specializes in playing selections of Moravian music from the past and present. The choir, founded in 1754, is the country's oldest still-functioning instrumental music ensemble and is comprised of Moravian College student music majors and music department faculty members.

During the breakfast George Taylor talked about TAFFN and how in works to bring the community and its religious organizations together, adding the 13 organization were also represented during the breakfast. TAFFN which is an organization of lay leaders from Tamaqua congregations formed to promote understanding and cooperation among all groups doing God's work in the community.In addition to seasonal music, the program also featured breakfast by the Zion Culinary Crew, an Advent message by the Rev. James Cavallero of the First United Methodist Church and a candlelighting ceremony.Tamaqua's Advent Breakfast is modeled after the same event in Bethlehem, Pa., which observes its 46th anniversary this year.
