Holiday Homecoming Chorus to perform in Palmerton

What better way to ring in the holiday season than with music?

On that note, the Holiday Homecoming Chorus of Palmerton is scheduled to perform a Christmas Concert.The event will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the First United Church of Christ, 457 Delaware Avenue. The program is open to the public and free of charge.Among the selections to be presented are "Canticle of Christmas", which includes canticles of "Joy", "Prophecy", "The Nativity", "Shepherds and Angels", "The Wise Men" and "Praise".The presentation is arranged and composed by Tom Fettke and Camp Kirkland, said Richard Nothstein, church member.In addition, "Adoration of the Magi" and "Silent Night" will also be sung, Nothstein said.The 45-voice chorus will be directed by Joseph Plechavy III, and accompanied by Mrs. Nancy Embrey, he said.Nothstein noted the chorus has presented Christmas and patriotic musical concerts for the past seven years, and has included members from eight different counties and three states.An opportunity to make a voluntary cash or nonperishable food donation to the Christian Action Council of Palmerton Area Churches (CACPAC) food pantry will be present, he said.The last presentation of the Holiday Homecoming Chorus took place at the Palmerton Area Veterans Memorial dedication on Veterans Day, Nothstein said.
