The Tamaqua Board of Health held its November meeting in the Tamaqua Municipal Building with Randolph Gormley, James Gormley and Earl Boettger in attendance.The board reviewed the October report from Code Enforcement Officer Joshua Esposito. During the month, Esposito made a general inspection at the Dollar General Store and made a spot check inspection at the Pine Street Pub. He also received and adjusted six complaints; one concerning rats; two feral cats; one infestation; and two concerning dog waste.There were no cases of reportable diseases for the month.Tax exemptionsThe Schuylkill County and Tamaqua Borough Per Capita and Occupation Tax Exemption Forms for the year 2013 will become available on Oct. 29 for Borough of Tamaqua residents.The exemption forms can be obtained at the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St., Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.Forms will also be available at tax collector Alan Kerr's office, the Tamaqua Area School District Administration building, the Tamaqua ABC High Rise, Majestic House Apartment Complex, the Tamaqua Public Library and the Tamaqua Post Office.Residents must complete the form each year to qualify for the tax exemption.Exoneration forms must be submitted by Friday, Jan. 25, 2012.Older and bolderThe Tamaqua Salvation Army's Older and Bolder sessions have resumed regular weekly meetings, which are held Wednesdays, from 10 a.m. to noon.November activities will include: Nov. 21, preparations for the Salvation Army Community Thanksgiving Dinner.This year's Hand Bell Tour will include stops at Sweet Arrow Lake on Dec. 1; Hometown Nursing Center, Tamaqua ABC Hi Rise and Majestic House on Dec. 4; St. Luke's on Dec. 5; Zion's in Lewistown Valley on Dec. 9; Jim Thorpe Railroad station on Dec. 15 and Union Station, Pottsville, on Dec. 21.For more information on any of these activities, contact Dina Depos at (570) 668-0410.Community serviceA Community Thanksgiving Eve service will be held Nov. 21, at 7 p.m., in Trinity United Church of Christ. Special music will be provided by the Tamaqua High School Jazz Chorale.Zion LutheranThe Rev. Jeffrey Kistler will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include the Sacrament of Baptism. Sunday school classes will meet at 8:30.Also on Sunday, the First Communion class will meet at 11 a.m., a coffee fellowship will be held at 11 a.m. Scouts will meet at 6 p.m. and TAFFN will meet at 6:30 p.m.Activities for next week include: Tuesday, Scouts meet at 6 p.m., council meeting will be held at 7 p.m.First Holy Communion will be celebrated during the worship service on Nov. 25.Trinity UCCThe Rev. Thomas Reinsel will officiate at the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday. The service will include a congregational meeting. Sunday school classes meet at 8:45 a.m.A prayer shawl meeting will be held next Saturday at 1 p.m.
