Tractor trailer stuck on temporary bridge

Traffic in Tamaqua was backed up a good distance around 6:15 p.m. yesterday after a tractor trailer lost one of its tires after striking the temporary Center Street (Route 309) bridge. Tractor trailer drivers have struck the bridge on numerous occasions since the completion of the temporary bridge. The tractor trailer had to be towed away. Responding were Tamaqua police, West Penn police and Tamaqua fire police. PennDOT contractors are expected to divert traffic back onto the new Center Street bridge sometime tomorrow. Tamaqua police officers Brent Getz, left, and Sgt. Rick Weaver, direct traffic around the disabled tractor trailer.
