Rev. Charles Siegele, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, East Mauch Chunk, recommended to the borough council positive action in the form of a ban against the sale or distribution of immoral literature in the borough. Father Siegele pointed out that other communities had taken such action against horror and crime comic books, calling them "unwholesome reading" prejudicial to the good morals of children. This, more than anything else, he pointed out, contributes to the increase of juvenile delinquency.
