A Tamaqua woman escaped serious injuries around 7:15 today after crashing her car into the woods along Owl Creek Road in Tamaqua, near the Carbon County line. Caress L. Vegel, 26, Tamaqua, was traveling east on Owl Creek Road when she lost control and veered her Pontiac sedan into the woods. Initial reports of a rollover were incorrect. Responding were Tamaqua firefighters and Tamaqua Police. Tamaqua Fire Police volunteers detoured traffic around the area while the car was towed away.
