Americans for Prosperity, the nation's leading grassroots advocate for economic freedom and limited government, hosted a gathering in the Lehighton Park on Friday to give people the opportunity to meet Tucker Carlson, who spoke about President Obama's failing agenda.

The program was opened by the oldies band, Remember When.Carlson is a columnist, political news correspondent and libertarian conservative commentator for the Fox News Channel.He is also a magazine and newspaper journalist, and has reported from around the world. He has been a columnist for Reader's Digest and New New York. He has also written for numerous other publications, including The New York Times Magazine, The New Republic, and Esquire.Carlson joined CNN as its youngest anchor ever, remaining at the network until February 2005. He got his television start in 2000 as co-host of The Spin Room.He later was appointed co-host of Crossfire, where he represented the political right. During the same period, Carlson also hosted a weekly public affairs program on PBS.Opening up the program was Katy Abram of AOP. She introduced Jennifer Stefano, as a stay-at-home mom who was refreshing and real as she is. Stefano is state director for AFP."We are a small army going up against Goliath," said Abram.Stefano said that she was pleased when Tucker said he would come to Lehighton, Pennsylvania.Tucker said that the upcoming election for president is the most important election in his lifetime."Frankly we are on the wrong track," said Carlson. "Every point of prosperity is pointing in the wrong direction. Even SAT scores are down." He said he like to blame that on the president, and then said, "Yes, I'll blame that on the president, too."He said that in the past two years the amount of people in the United States without health care has not gone down, but has actually gone up two percent.He said he had a conversation with his cousin who works for Obama's campaign and told him that and his cousin was in disbelief."The national press are besotted with the president," said Carlson. Carlson said that the national press' attachment to the president is an unhealthy attachment.Friday's event kicked off the "National Prosperity Action Day" day that will take place today. This nationwide event harnesses the combined strength of over 100 AFP field offices and eight in Pennsylvania to give concerned citizens the opportunity to do something about President Obama's failing agenda."Anyone who cares about the future of this country - regardless of ideological persuasion - will want to pay attention to what our activists are doing," said Stefano.
