Nitty Gritty Dirt Band playing Friday night at Penn's Peak

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will be performing at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe, Friday night.

This is the first appearance at the local venue for the group.The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has had two constants since their start in 1966, Jeff Hanna and Jimmie Fadden, with a third founding member, John McEuen eventually returning after a 14 year absence.One thing that has definitely remained steadfast over time is their sound of country rock/American roots music.This iconic group continues to add to their already legendary status with their multitude of multi-platinum and gold records. They have numerous Top 10 hits including "Fishin' In The Dark" and "Mr. Bojangles"; with the latter of the two being inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2010.The spring of 2002 found the band starring in the limelight with the release of their 30th anniversary edition CD, "Will The Circle Be Unbroken."
