Law firms who wish to serve as solicitor of the Palmerton Area School Board are encouraged to make their best pitch.

The district will accept Request for Proposals for board solicitor until 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14. The RFP's will be opened by a committee of the school board at that time.Superintendent Carol Boyce said the board decided to do RFP's for doctor, dentist and solicitor this year. The doctor and dentist remained the same, as they were the sole responses, she said.Boyce said the district has advertised, and will send RFPs to a list of firms, including its current solicitor, Shulman & Shabbick, of Palmerton.Attorney David Shulman, of Shulman & Shabbick, has served as board solicitor since Jan. of 2010.The firm took over for former board solicitor Steven Serfass after he was appointed as the third judge in the Carbon County Court of Common Pleas.Serfass had served as board solicitor since Aug. of 2000.Specifications may be obtained at the board secretary's office, 680 Fourth Street, Palmerton, or via the district's website,
