Sverchek graduates with honors

Rachel C. Sverchek of Lehighton graduated magna cum laude from Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y. She was a member of the school's 171st Commencement Class and graduated from the School of Business with a B.S. in Business Administration with a marketing major.

Rachel attained the dean's list every semester while at Ithaca.She received the following school and departmental awards while at Ithaca College in recognition of her academic performance Alpha Mu Alpha, Beta Gamma Sigma and Sigma Iota Epsilon. She was also inducted into The Oracle Society and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. Membership in the Oracle Society is awarded to first year students who place in the top 10 percent in their respective schools of study. Phi Kappa Phi is a national honor society recognizing top students in their junior and senior years who have maintained a 3.70 or higher grade point average.Rachel was also a volunteer for the Tompkins County chapter of Loaves and Fishes, a Christian organization.Rachel is currently working for the Mark Sverchek Agency and the Slopeside Pub at Blue Mountain Ski Area for the summer. She has accepted a full-time position with the English Program in Korea (EPIK) to teach English as a second language in South Korea for one year. The EPIK program is affiliated with the Korean Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. She will depart for Daejon, South Korea in mid August.Rachel is the daughter of Mark and Anne Sverchek of Lehighton and the granddaughter of the late John and Veronica Sverchek of Lansford and the late William and Anna Corkill of Jim Thorpe.
