Panther Valley alum David Katz graduate of Gallaudet University

David N. Katz, son of Jimmy and Donna Kravelk of Nesquehoning, graduated on May 11, from Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. Gallaudet University, established in 1864 by an Act of Congress and signed by President Abraham Lincoln, is the only university that is designed with programs and services specifically to accommodate deaf and hard of hearing students.

He earned a bachelor of arts in deaf studies and American Sign Language.Katz is a 2006 graduate of Panther Valley High School. He has always been involved with teaching American Sign Language and deaf culture to elementary students. He also volunteered as a camp counselor and activities for Camp

H.E.R.O. in Bloomsburg, which is a week-long camp that is designed for deaf and hard of hearing individuals.Katz did an internship for deaf studies at Austin Community College from January 2012 until April 2012 in Austin, Texas.After graduation, he moved back to Austin and is working with deaf adults in a group home.
