Major drug arrest in Lansford

John C. Sabol, 48, of 221 E. Bertsch St., Lansford faces numerous charges after police executed a search warrant of his residence in the early morning hours of Aug. 9. Charges in the incident were filed by Det./Sgt. Jack Soberick and Officer Timothy Wuttke.

The department conducted an extensive investigation that spanned several months which involved Sabol and the possession and selling of controlled substances in and around his residence. Police received numerous complaints of heavy foot and vehicular traffic near his residence. Controlled buys were conducted over several months using confidential informants.As a result of the investigation, on Aug. 9, police obtained a nighttime search warrant for the residence. The warrant was executed approximately 3 a.m. Lansford police were assisted by Nesquehoning, Lehighton, Summit Hill, Coaldale, Franklin Township, and Mahoning Township police departments.Upon entry into the residence, Sabol was arrested without incident and a search was conducted. Police recovered numerous controlled substances, needles, scales, currency, and a large amount of drug paraphernalia.Sabol faces additional charges for the contraband that was found as a result of this search.He was arraigned via video before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford on two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-heroin, (felony); two counts of criminal use of a communication facility (felony); and possession of a controlled substance.Sabol was jailed in Carbon County prison under $200,000 percentage bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Aug. 15.
