A Carbon County teen is facing charges following an incident on Friday, Aug. 3, about 11:36 p.m.

State police at Lehighton said troopers attempted to stop a Mercury Sable along Fawn Road, east of SR903, in Penn Forest Township, for a traffic violation. The vehicle stopped briefly, then sped away. A pursuit was conducted and ended a short distance later.The driver and a front seat passenger fled on foot into nearby woods. The driver was later identified as a 17-year-old male from Jim Thorpe. A back seat passenger, not identified by troopers, was taken into custody. Charges are pending against the teen driver.
