Carbon accident claims life of Tamaqua woman

A one-car accident early Saturday evening near the entrance to Mauch Chunk Lake Park has claimed the life of a Tamaqua woman.

Erica K. Dolan, 24, died when her car went off the Lentz Trail and struck a tree broadside.The accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Dolan was alone in the vehicle.It was reported Dolan was traveling east and for an unknown reason went off the right side of the roadway. The impact to the tree was on the driver's side of the car.She was pronounced dead by Carbon County Coroner Bruce Nalesnik.Nalesnik attributed the cause of death to multiple injuries.Extrication of Dolan from her vehicle was done by members of the Jim Thorpe Fire Department. The Jim Thorpe Police Department is investigating.Assisting at the scene were Jim Thorpe Fire Police, Summit Hill Fire Police, Lehighton ambulance, Lansford ambulance, and the Summit Hill Police Department. The Lentz Trail was closed for over two hours in the vicinity of the Boat Launch A area because of the accident.Dolan is the mother of a 2-year-old child.She was reportedly active in various organizations in Tamaqua including the Tamaqua Leo Club, the Tamaqua Lions Club, Tamaqua Library, American Legion, and the American Cancer Society.
