Area artist donates painting to Safe Haven Pet Rescue fundraising event

Safe Haven Pet Rescue is teaming up with MudWorks Pottery and Gallery in Effort to help raise money and awareness for animals in shelters.

On Aug. 11, beginning at 10 a.m., MudWorks Pottery and Gallery, located at 3278 Rt. 115, Effort, will host "It's Raining Cats and Dogs!" an event to help place highly adoptable dogs in loving "forever" homes.The event will begin at 10 a.m., with an adoption day from Safe Haven Pet Rescue. Volunteers of the animal shelter will have dogs that are up for adoption available for potential adopters to meet.Also, at the event, Will Daskal, an accomplished, well-known local and regional artist living in Effort, will help raise money for the survival of the dogs currently being fostered by Safe Haven through the sale of a whimsical, watercolor painting, entitled "It's Raining Cats & Dogs."This painting will be on display and available for purchase at MudWorks. Daskal will donate 100 percent of his share of the profits to Safe Haven.In addition, there will be numerous activities, such as: decorate your own cat or dog cupcake with Kitchen Chemistry, and a bake sale by Monroe County 4-H. Ellie the Krafty Klown will be there to make balloon animals and do face painting.From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Once & Done Workshop will make Animal Totem Poles. Pre-registration and pre-payment required to reserve your spot at one of three sessions 11 a.m., 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. for this event. Call MUDWORKS to check on any last minutes changes to the time schedule.From 5 to 7 p.m., Daskal will be joined by several fellow area artists at an artists' reception, hosted by MudWorks. Light refreshments will be served.
