Shockers stay alive in BR Tournament

The Franklin Township Shockers stayed alive in the Keystone Senior Babe Ruth tournament with a loser's bracket victory over Panther Valley over the weekend.

KEYSTONE SENIOR BRBlack Diamonds-ShockersJames Farano scored when Parker David was hit by a pitch and Kyle Troch scores on passed ball in the seventh inning to lift the Franklin Township Shockers a 3-2 a win over the Panther Valley Black Diamonds in the Keystone Senior Babe Ruth playoffs.Thatcher David had two hits and a stolen base for the Shockers and Anthony Rossino had two hits and a stolen base. Farano got the win striking out seven.Nick McArdle was two-for two, scored a run and stoled a base for the Black Diamonds. Jake Szczecina suffered the loss.The Shockers will now play Hazleton on Tuesday at 5:30 at Franklin's Christman Field.BABE RUTH 15-YEAR OLDValley West-Franklin Twp.Valley West defeated Franklin Township twice to capture the District 4 Babe Ruth 15-year-old tournament title.Franklin Township entered weekend play in the double elimination undefeated, having outscored its first three opponents by a 32-7 margin. But Valley West rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out an 8-7 victory in the opener on Saturday and force a deciding game. Valley West then captured the championship with a 6-3 victory.Leading Franklin Township offensively in the opener was Dave Everitt with two doubles and three RBIs. Zak Kamowski added two singles and two RBIs.In the nightcap. Mitch Peters, Kamowski and Everitt all had two hits for Franklin.PV 9-10 LITTLE LEAGUETamaqua Blue-AnthraciteTamaqua Blue moved to 4-0 in the Panther Valley Tournament with an 18-1 victory over Anthracite.Carson Barron, Dante Agosti and Joe Minehan combined to pitch a one-hitter for Tamaqua Blue.Barron had two doubles and four RBIs and Emily Titus also had two hits and four RBIs. Tyler Steigerwalt, Michael Minchhoff, Adam Rex, and Joe Minehan each contributed a hit apiece. For Anthracite Byran Smith managed the only hit.NEIFERT TOURNAMENTTam. Blue-Tam.WhiteTamaqua Blue took care of business against Tamaqua White, defeating them, 16-0 in the 9-year old Neifert Little League Tournament.Tamaqua Blue used a seven-run second inning to pull away from Tamaqua White. Blue also had a staggering 14 hits in the ball game to help gain the victory.Brian Milot had three hits on the day along with Barron Stauffenburg. Lucas Schickram also had a nice day at the plate getting two hits.
