Anthony James "A.J." Soberick, 8, waits patiently for his turn to practice at the 2012 Mifflintown Airport Kart-A-Rama series race, as he continues his family's love of all things automotive. His interest in the sport was sparked by his late grandfather, "Pops" Jack Soberick of Soberick's Garage in Coaldale. The son of Kevin and Erin Tait Soberick of Fogelsville, A.J. began his racing career in April of this year at the Oreville Kart Club track in Mertztown. He competed in a Kart-A-Rama event in Mifflintown on July 7 and 8, placing first in his class and third overall. He selected his car number, 20, in honor of the Gulf Porsche 917 in the movie "LeMans," starring Steve McQueen. The budding racer is a third grade student at Weisenberg Elementary School and is also the grandson of Rose Mary Cannon and Tom Dahl of Lansford.
