The Tamaqua Seniors met April 19 at the Tamaqua Community Center with 79 members in attendance. Vice President Nancy Gerber conducted the business session and provided her weekly report.One new member, Mike Trubilla, was welcomed to the group.Rose Vallee provided the invocation, entitled "What I'm Thankful For." Secretary Joan Anne Garber provided her report. Joan Boner, Betty Connely and Isabelle Brode were added to the sick list.The meeting concluded with cards and social games.The group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., at the community center. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The center is handicap accessible.WP softballThe West Penn Girls Softball Association is accepting applications from girls 16 and under to play for a new team, which will begin action in June.Anyone interested may call Scot at (570) 449-6084.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev. Russell Heintzelman will be the guest minister at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m. and Confirmation class meets at11:30 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Cub Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.Activities for next week will include: Thursday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m.; Saturday, Cub Scout rodeo begins at 9 a.m.The choirs rehearse on Thursdays. Next week's schedule will include: 6:30 p.m., Cherub choir; 7 p.m., junior choir; 7:30 p.m., senior choir.SS. Peter and PaulFirst Holy Communion rehearsal will be held at 6 p.m., April 30, in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.Calvary UMThe Rev. Edward Bean will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church.Special guests will be Mrs. Shelly Hikes, director of Schuylkill County Child Evangelism and Laura Gottfried.Also on Sunday, a time of praise, worship and Bible study will be held at 6:30 p.m.A National Day of Prayer service will be held at 7:15 p.m. on May 3, at Steigerwalt's Church of God in McKeansburg.
