'The Jester's Job'

Who will get the jester's job now that the king has fired his previous jester? Will it be Mirth, Chuckles, or Dave … or someone else?

The answer will be revealed during "The Jester's Job," an original play written for the members of the LAMS Players, Lehighton Area Middle School's drama club. The play's debut performance will be offered on Wednesday, April 18 and Thursday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lehighton Area Middle School Auditorium.Join the LAMS Players as they portray kings, queens, princes, princesses, courtiers, mice, elves, witches, dogs and even a squirrel as they all ask who will get the jester's job.The play is directed by Molly Phillips. This will be her final year directing the LAMS Players, as she will be retiring at the end of the school year. This year's play was written exclusively for her middle school students by her husband, John E. Phillips, a retired playwright."This show was a gift to me, and a gift to the students," she said. "It's tough finding a show that's funny and geared toward middle school students. I've done roughly 20 years worth of plays, and every one of them has inspired me as much as it has inspired the cast."In addition to directing the school plays, Phillips is an art teacher at Lehighton Area Middle School. She encouraged the community to join the LAMS Players as they present "The Jester's Job." Admission is a $1 donation."It's a wonderful show. What better way to spend an evening than to watch children get creative?" she added.Cast members of "The Jester's Job" include Parker Fairchild as king; Abigail Bartron, queen; Cara Anna Palumbo, major domo; Mary Grace Collins, minor domo/mouse; Lindsay Carrigan, Emily Haberman, Sessa Lenhardt, Megan Pomposello, and Cassidy Clark, princesses; Xander Karpowicz, minister/Reginald; Brianna Keiser, Chuckles; Elena Beckett, Mirth; Jacob Hoffner, Dave; Tia Brownmiller, Winnie/Esmeralda; Kira Dorward, head elf/judge; Hailie Brosky, Candace Malkowicz, Amanda Passiglia, and Lindsey Bowman, elves/courtiers/mice; Madison Deluca, elf/Bob; Jordan Fisher, Myron/courtier; Cammi Nalesnik, witch/Mary; Thomas Phelan, shoemaker/courtier/squirrel; and Lillian Brown as courtier/mouse/Helen.Technical director for the performance is Bruce Koch.
