Fourteen first time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program on Tuesday by county judges.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete the program, or are revoked from it, the Commonwealth reserves the right to prosecute them on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Placed by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II were:Marina Dunn, 36, of Glenn Mills, Delaware County, was placed for six months on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI). She was arrested on Aug. 27, 2011, along Susquehanna St., in Jim Thorpe. Given a test, the result was .18BAC.She was assessed $500 for the program, ordered to get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, and license suspended for 60 days.Jesse L. Hackman, 18, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of burglary. He was arrested by Lehighton police for entering the Boulevard Restaurant on Sept. 20, 2011.He was assessed $500, make restitution in an amount to be determined, and render 25 hours of community service.Nicole Marie Smith, 32, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a theft of services charge. She was arrested by state police at Lehighton at her residence for allegedly receiving cable television service illegally.She was assessed $500, and ordered to make restitution to Blue Ridge Cable Company in an amount to be determined, and render 25 hours of community service.Placed by Judge Steven R. Serfass were:Vincent A. Citro, 26, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Jan. 8 along Second St., in Summit Hill. Given a test, the result was .09BAC.He was assessed $350, ordered to get a D&A evaluation, and render 50 hours of community service.Deanna Detweiler, 20, of Kunkletown, was placed on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on Nov. 4, 2011, along Blakeslee Blvd. Drive East by Mahoning Township police.She was assessed $350 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Jeffrey Robert Gorman, 42, of Albrightsville, was placed for two years on a charge of burglary. He was arrested on Aug. 18, 2011, by Kidder Township police for an incident at the Holiday Pocono in Albrightsville.He was assessed $500, and ordred to make restitution of $200 to the victim, make a $200 donation to the Salvation Army, and render 100 hours of community service.Bonnie L. Pavlichko, 55, of Lehighton, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Nov. 16, 2011, along Spring Hill Road in Mahoning Township. Given a test, the result was .08BAC.She was assessed $350, ordered to get a D&A evaluation, license suspended for 60 days, and render 50 hours of community service.Cody Queen, 18, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a charge of possession of marijuana. He was arrested on Jan. 6 at Kemmerers Park in Jim Thorpe.He was assessed $350 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Yvonne T. Sinclair, 60, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was placed for two years on a charge of theft by deception. She was charged with receiving U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Renewal benefits when not entitled.She was assessed $500, and ordered to make restitution of $20,693, and render 100 hours of community serivce. The restitution has already been paid, it was noted.Ebony L. Sykes, 32, of Nesquehoning, was placed on a charge of theft by deception. She is the daughter of Sinclair and was charged in connection with the same incident.She was assessed $500 and ordered to render 100 hours of communtiy service. The same restitution was involved and paid.Adam M. Sobas, 61, of Lehighton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Dec. 9, 2011, along SR903 in Jim Thorpe. Given a test, the result was. 16BAC.He was assessed $450, and ordered to get a D&A evaluation, license suspended for 60 days, and render 50 hours of community service.Tisha L. Staehle, 32, of Lansford, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Oct. 9, 2011, along SR443 in Mahoning Township by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .12BAC.She was assessed $400, and ordered to get a D&A evaluation, license suspended for 30 days, and render 50 hours of community service.Jason M. Wermuth, 25, of Kunkletown, was placed for two years on a DUI charge. He was arrested on March 18, 2011, along Pohopoco Drive, in Franklin Township. Given a test, the result was .22BAC.He was assessed $400, and orderd to get a D&A evaluation, license suspended for 60 days, make restitution for damages in a crash to be determined, and render 100 hours of community service.Shawn M. Zellers, 29, of Lehighton, was placed on a theft charge. He was arrested on Nov. 24, 2011, by Lehighton police for allegedly stealing speed signs.He was assessed $350, and ordered to make restitution of $92, and render 50 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay court costs, which average close to $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
