Legion to meetThe monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session. The second nomination of officers will take place at this time.A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.Borough councilThe monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held on Monday, April 9, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Michael Kokinda, president, will be in charge of the session.Presbyterian churchThe Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, has announced its Easter services as follows:A Maundy Thursday Communion service will be held on Thursday, April 5, at 7 p.m.On Easter Sunday, April 8, the worship service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Holy Communion will also be celebrated at this service.Bloodmobile plannedSt. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will sponsor a bloodmobile visit from the Miller-Keystone Memorial Blood Bank on Saturday, April 21. The bloodmobile hours will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.The drive is being held in memory of the late Paige Rex, a longtime parishioner of the church who played a key role in the church's sponsorship of bloodmobiles in the past. She passed away on Oct. 28, 2010.Fire company driveDiligence Fire Company No. 1, Summit Hill, is in the midst of its 2012 fund drive.This is the company's main source of revenue and helps the firemen pay loans associated with its trucks, as well as to provide the apparatus necessary to have a fully-equipped fire service.The donations can be mailed to the company in the envelope provided in the recent mailing, or they can be dropped off at John's Auto Repair or the office of the borough secretary.In addition to the donations, the company is asking townspeople to return the survey information cards that were included in the mailing. This helps the firemen properly identify residents needs in the case of a response.NesquehoningLions ClubThe Nesquehoning Lions Club will meet on Tuesday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Lengyels. All members are encouraged to attend.LansfordHoly Week servicesTrinity Lutheran Church, Lansford, will offer services during Holy Week. The Palm Sunday communion service will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Sunday April 1.A Maundy Thursday communion service will be held at 1:30 p.m. April 5. The Good Friday Tenebrae service will be held at 7 p.m., April 6. The Rev. Roy H. Koehler will officiate. All are welcome to attend.
