A Nesquehoning man, who pleaded guilty to drug charges, was placed on probation by a Schuylkill County judge in a special state correctional facility program.

Michael Robert Bruno, 35, of 105 E. Catawissa St., pleaded guilty last Jan. 1 to two counts each of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of communication facililty and possession of a controlled substance. The offenses occurred in Tamaqua.At the time he entered the guilty plea President Judge William E. Baldwin deferred sentence and sent him to a state correctional institution to be determined if he qualified for the state program. He qualified for the program and was placed in the state Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for a period of 24 months followed by a consecutive two years probation.Bruno was cited by Patrolman Anthony Stanell in February 2011.Other casesJames Lawrence Hahn, 60, Cressona, pleaded nolo contendre (no defense) before Judge Charles M, Miller to charges of arson and driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol.On the arson charge he was sentenced to serve two to six years in a state correctional facility with credit for serving 260 days in the county prison, pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Accout (CJEA) and make restittution of $260 to Bethlehem Regional Lab and $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center. He was cited by Trooper John F. Burns to setting fire to his own property on River Street.On the charge of DUI brought by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman Warren G. Firing, he received a concurrent sentence of 90 days to five years, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to CJEA and $50 to Catastrophe fund.Daniel Paulino, 24, Shenandoah, pleaded guilty to charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and was sentenced by Judge Baldwin to serve 12 months on probation, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA account, perform 10 hours community service and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Paulino was cited by West Mahanoy Township Chief Shawn Tray, on March 4, 2011, when stopped on SR924.Each defendant must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
