Bangor man admits to growing marijuana plants in his apartment

A Bangor man pleaded guilty in Carbon County court on Thursday to one count of possession of marijuana, admitting he was growing two marijuana plants in the bathroom of his apartment.

Jason Allen Hein, 28, entered he plea before Judge Joseph J. Matika. Hein was arrested on Jan. 16, 2011, when Palmerton police served a search warrant on his then residence at 435 State Rd.Prior to entering the plea Matika conducted a probation violation proceeding. Hein was charged by the adult probation office with violating his probation by being arrested on the drug charge and failing to submit to a urine test for drugs. He was on probation on a false identification to law enforcement charge imposed in September 2011. He did not contest the violations.On that count Matika resentenced Hein to serve five to 12 months in prison, giving him credit for 105 days spent in jail on the charge.On the new drug count Matika placed him on probation for six months, consecutive to the false ID charge. He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, pay a $50 per month supervision fee, pay court costs, and must render 25 hours of community service while out on probation and parole.
