Lenten services

The Tamaqua Ministerium is sponsoring a series of interdenominational Midweek Lenten services.All of the services will be held at noon with a light luncheon to follow.The schedule includes: March 14, First United Methodist, 124 W. Broad St.; March 21, Tamaqua Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St.; and March 28, St. Jerome's Catholic, 266 W. Broad St.The public is welcome to attend any and all of the services.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include a joyous noise offering. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m., Daisies and Brownies will meet at 6 p.m.Activities for next week will include: Monday, food co-op at 9 a.m.; Wednesday, retirees meet at 9 a.m., joint midweek Lenten service at 7:30 p.m. at St. Peter's; Thursday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., Girl Scouts meet at 6:30 p.m.The choirs rehearse every Thursday. Next week's schedule will include cherubs at 6:30 p.m., junior choir at 7 p. m. and the senior choir rehearses at 7:30 p.m.St. John UCCThe Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship. Sunday school classes for all ages will be held at 11 a.m.The weekly radio program will be aired on WASH - AM1410, at 11:30 a.m.Activities for next week will include: Wednesday, joint midweek Lenten service at 7:30 p.m. at St. John.Salvation ArmySunday services at the Tamaqua Salvation Army are held at 11 a.m. Sunday school classes meet at 10 a.m.Weekly activities include: Tuesday, men's and women's fellowship meets at 5 p.m., youth drama meets at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Timbrels, Bible study and prayer meeting at 5 p.m.; Thursday, youth group meets at 4 p.m., band rehearsal at 5:30 p.m.Basic computer classes will be held every Tuesday and Thursday for the next eight weeks. Classes will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon and from 6 to 7:30 p.m.Animal rescueThe Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue group will meet at 7 p.m. today, in Tamaqua Borough Hall.The public is welcome to attend. Volunteers are always welcome.
