Threats lead to questioning of student

A Palmerton Area High School student was reportedly questioned earlier this week after he allegedly made threats on Facebook.

Attempts by the TIMES NEWS to substantiate the alleged incident called in to the newsroom Wednesday afternoon by a concerned mother were unsuccessful in time for today's publication.Contacted this morning, high school Principal Kathy Egan wouldn't confirm or deny whether the incident took place."We're not at liberty to make any comments or discuss the situation with you," Egan said. "The policy here is that anything would come from the superintendent's office."Efforts to reach Superintendent Carol Boyce this morning were unsuccessful. A secretary said she was attending an event outside of the district at the time of the call.Egan then referred the matter to state police. Contacted this morning, state Police at Lehighton referred the matter back to the high school, where it said the situation was being handled.The mother, who declined to give her name, said the student who allegedly made the threats on Facebook to kill everyone in the school was a male in 10th or 11th grade. The unidentified woman also said the student was arrested Tuesday, but heard he was back in school Wednesday. The mother said that her child said the boy thinks he is a vampire.
