The sink hole, which developed behind the Tamaqua Elementary School on Feb. 3, will be filled beginning March 1, according to a report issued to the Tamaqua Area School Board by Dr. H. Bruce Geiger, superintendent of schools. Bids will be received on Feb. 22 and awarded on Feb. 26, with work slated to begin March 1. The superintendent said large rocks will be dumped into the hole and if it does not cave in further, smaller rocks will be put on top. Then the hole will be covered with dirt and seeded.
