Speed blamed for Schuylkill crash

Speed was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred in Schuylkill County on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Rebekah A. Plesnarski, 24, of Pottsville, was driving a 1998 Subaru Impreza eastbound on SR901 in Foster Township, about 8:51 p.m. and entering a right curve. Troopers said Plesnarski was traveling at a high rate of speed and going too fast for the curve.The vehicle crossed the double yellow line and went into the westbound lane where the driver attempted to countersteer back into the eastbound lane. The Impreza then slid at a 45 degree angle for about 135 feet before striking a utility pole off the right side of the road. The vehicle then struck a dirt embankment with the front bumper before coming to rest in a gravel pull-off on the west side of the road.Plesnarski was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville. Troopers cited her for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
