Firefighters from several communities battle house fire in in the 3600 block of Lower Smith Gap Road, Eldred Township, near Kunkletown, shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday. The family in the house escaped without injury. The cause of the fire was not determined. The fire was reported when family members reported the smell of smoke in the home. By the time firefighters arrived, flames already were consuming the dwelling.
