On Thursday, Oct. 18 Gene Duffy will share his decade-long Hollywood experience with the signing of his new book, "As the Matzo Ball Turns." The story chronicles an aspiring actor's 10-year encounter with hit men, celebrities and old Jewish ladies, and features a very famous deli where he toiled while trying to rise through the ranks of Hollywood.

A reception and book signing will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from book sales will be donated to the Mauch Chunk Opera House and anyone who purchases a book will also get a free DVD copy of the movie, "Living With Uncle Ray."

At 7:30 p.m., there will be a brief introduction of the movie and from 7:45-9 p.m., the movie "Living With Uncle Ray" will be shown. The film is about a troubled Vietnam veteran who returns home and finds himself fighting another war this time for the family TV.

A brief question-and-answer period will follow for those who are considering or who have considered a career in the entertainment business, or for anyone curious about the process of making an independent film.

The event is free to the public. Go to for more information.
