Two cited after Schuylkill incident

Two men were cited following an incident in Girardville, Schuylkill County, that occurred last year.

State police at Frackville said they charged John Anthony Stapinski, 42, of Eldred, McKean County, and Theodore R. Stang Sr., 47, of Girardville.

The two had charges filed on Feb. 21. Stang was charged with simple assault and harassment while Stapinski was charged with four counts of recklessly endangering another person and one count of simple assault. He was also charged with motor vehicle code violations of driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, driving on roadways laned for traffic, careless driving, and reckless driving.

Troopers said on Aug. 13, 2011, between 7 and 7:10 p.m. along E. Ogden St., between Second and Reed streets., Stapinski and Stang were involved in an altercation. It is alleged that Stang was struck by a vehicle driven by Stapinski. Stang was transported from the scene to St. Catherine's Medical Center, Ashland, for treatment, and later transferred to the Geisinger Medical Center, in Danville.

As a result of an investigation the charges were filed, troopers said.
