One of the largest crowds ever to attend a public event in the Tamaqua High School Auditorium witnessed the Don Cossack Chorus and Dancers sponsored by the Tamaqua Rotary Club.

A total of 887 persons were entertained by the two-hour program of the 25 member troupe. Russian liturgical music and folk songs, Cossack melodies, battle songs and Americdan songs were presented by the troup who were attired in their Cossack uniforms.

A Cossack knife dance and the traditional Russian dance proved to be a show stopper according to club officials.
