Driver making U-turn causes crash

A driver making a U-turn caused a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday in Carbon County.

State police at Hazleton said Melissa M. Ramos, 28, of Hazleton, driving a 2005 Honda Odyssey, was parked eastbound on East Market Street in Banks Township when she attempted a U-turn. She pulled in front of a 2005 Saturn Ion driven by Lance N. Borchick, 28, of Beaver Meadows, who was eastbound at the time. The passenger side rear of the Honda hit the front driver's side of the Saturn.Neither Ramos nor Borchick and his two juvenile passengers were injured. The Honda sustained minor damages, but the Saturn had major damage to the front end and had to be towed. The crash occurred about 9 a.m.Troopers cited Ramos for the crash.
