A Tamaqua woman was one of eight people who entered guilt pleas in the Schuylkill County Court and were sentenced by President Judge William E. Baldwin.

Amber Lee Strohl, 29, of 44 Mauch Chunk Street, Tamaqua, on a charge of simple assault on a police officer, was sentenced to serve 10 months to 24 months in a state correctional institution with credit for serving 144 days in the Schuylkill County Prison. She also pleaded guilty to theft of a purse of a patron at Freddy's Tavern and received a 12 months probation sentence to run concurrent with the assault charge and on a charge of resisting arrest also received a 12 months probation sentence to run concurrent. Strohl was cited by Patrolman Thomas Rodgers, Tamaqua police.Patrick Sean Gulden, 21, Minersville, on a charge of DUI (driving under the influence), was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in the Schuylkill County Prison. He reported to the prison Monday at 9 a.m. and after spending 48 hours in prison he will be granted immediate parole.Gulden also must pay a fine of $500, pay $100 to the SAE (Substance Abuse Education) fund, $50 to CJEA (Criminal Justice Enhancement Account), $50 to the Catastrophe fund, $180 to Schuylkill Medical Center, a $50 monthly fee for each month on probation, receive intensive outpatient treatment and enroll in alcohol highway safe driving school. Gulden was cited by Patrolman Christopher Zubris, Shenandoah police.Clyde Victor Bixler, 36, Pottsville, on a charge of possession of an offensive weapon (metal knuckles), was sentenced to serve three months to 18 months in the county prison with the sentence to become effective Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 9 a.m. Bixler was cited by Patrolman Renee R Galle, Pottsville police.Marques Reginald Reaves, 27, Reading, Berks County, on a charge of fleeing Pottsville police and involved in striking a parked car in Arch Street parking lot, was sentenced to serve 24 months to 48 months in a state correctional facility with credit for spending 289 days in the county prison. On a charge of driving while his operating privileges were suspended, he was fined $200, violating traffic signal and stop signed fined $50 plus $150 costs.Reaves also pleaded guilty to fleeing state police and received a concurrent sentence of one to two years. He also was fined $200 for a second driving while his license was suspended charge.Leon Michael Strine, 33, inmate at the state prison in Ryan Township, on a charge of simple assault on a correctional officer, was sentenced to serve six months to 12 months to begin at the expiration of the current sentence he is now serving and pay $50 to CJEA.Christa Marie Lopez, 26, Shenandoah, on three counts of retail theft from stores in Shenandoah, was placed on probation for 24 months, pay $100 to CJEA, a $50 monthly probation fee and a $50 to the district attorney's office for a bench warrant. Lopez was cited by Shenandoah police.William Edward Curtis, 45, Keedysville, Maryland, on a charge of theft of a check belonging to Judy Finch, Echo Valley Camp Grounds, Tremont Township, was sentenced to serve one year to two years in a state correctional facility with the sentence to commence at the expiration of a sentence imposed in the State of Maryland. Curtis was also ordered to make restitution of $1,350 to the victim. He was cited by Trooper Wesley Levan.William J. Sanchez, 24, Mahanoy City, on a charge of theft of a home theatre set belonging to John Wronski,m 334 West Spruce Street, was sentenced to serve nine months to 23 months in the county prison with credit for serving 208 days in the county prison and make restitution of $1,250 to Wronski. He was cited by Patrolman Charles Kovalewski, Mahanoy City Police.Sanchez also pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia to serve a concurrent sentence of three to 12 months, pay $100 to the SAE fund and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. He was cited by Corporal Michael Dissinger, Mahanoy City police.
