Troop Triple Nickel, Santa Claus, raise funds for ACS in J. Thorpe

This past Sunday morning, at Memorial Hall in Jim Thorpe, the Relay for Life team of Team Triple Nickel held its eighth annual Breakfast With Santa to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society (ACS).

The well-attended event saw hundreds of children, parents, and grandparents enjoy not only a tasty breakfast, but music, entertainment, a bake sale, and a Chinese auction in addition to a visit by Santa and friends. When the jolly old elf made his appearance, he was accompanied by Mrs. Claus, Frosty the Snowman, the Christmas Bear, Santa's Elves, and even a "not-so-mean" Grinch.Members of Boy Scout Troop 555 and Girl Scout Troop 34229 helped out by carrying guests' food to their tables for them, and clearing the tables when they had finished their breakfasts.Team Triple Nickel team members and others donated the food, toys, Chinese auction items, baked goods, etc. Also helping make the fundraiser possible with donations to help pay for the hall rental were the Jim Thorpe National Bank and the Mauch Chunk Trust Company. In keeping with the Christmas tradition of giving, the winners of a 50-50 drawing Madison and Gabriella Brown of Lehighton, donated the $72.50 prize back to the American Cancer Society. The event, which was organized by Scoutmaster Ray Attewell, raised over $3,000 for the American Cancer Society last year.
