Jim Thorpe Community Athletic Association is holding its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Sam Miller Field, Heights of Jim Thorpe. Santa Claus will be there for the kids to meet and to sit on his lap.Every child that visits with Santa 12 years old and younger, will receive a present from Santa. There will be free hot chocolate and cookies for everyone.

Sponsors for Santa's presents are, Mauch Chunk 5 & 10, Binder Insurance, Co., Suzanne Graff, Kyle Sheckler, and The Jim Thorpe Community Athletic Association.The 14 foot Christmas tree was donated by a local Jim Thorpe businessman who wishes to remain anonymous. The Jim Thorpe Borough Public Service Department also helped out by setting up the 1/2 ton tree stand, setting up the tree, and placing the lights on the tree.
