Winter parkingChief Joseph Fittos Jr. of the Summit Hill Police Department has announced winter parking regulations in the borough that went into effect on Dec. 1.Under borough ordinance, all vehicles parked on East White Street, between Spruce and Pine streets, and all vehicles parked on West White Street, between Poplar and Coal streets, must be parked facing west. These rules will be enforced through March 31.In addition, borough law requires between Dec. 15 and March 15, all boats, trailers and campers must be off borough streets. Violators will be fined and the units will be towed off the streets at the owners' expense.St. Paul LutheranThe Sunday school class of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will visit guests at Maple Shade Meadows, Nesquehoning, on Sunday, Dec. 11.The youths will present a Christmas play for the seniors and will also hand out ornaments that they made for the guests there.Christmas partyAmerican Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will hold its annual Christmas party for the children of the community on Saturday, Dec. 17.The doors will open at noon and Santa Claus is expected to arrive via fire truck around 1 o'clock.Refreshments will be served to the children, who will also receive a Christmas stocking from Santa.Food pantryThe Summit Hill Food Pantry will hold its regular monthly pantry distribution service on Tuesday, Dec. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon. Persons seeking assistance are reminded help is needed to carry food boxes and other items from the pantry to vehicles since assistance is limited.Persons reporting for assistance must have their own tote bags to pack their own food. They are reminded no parking will be allowed in the alley adjacent to the pantry (Summit Hill Heritage Center, Chestnut and Hazard streets) before 9:45 a.m., due to deliveries. Also, no parking will be allowed in the lot behind the pantry.LansfordSt. John LutheranSt. John Lutheran Church, Lansford, will hold an informal worship tonight at 7 o'clock in the church. This will be a spiritual, peaceful evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief musical evening prayer. For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 o'clock, followed by an adult Bible study at 6:30.For more information, call the Rev.
