Two area residents, from Tamaqua and Coaldale, were among 15 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by President Judge William E. Baldwin.

Adam Jose Cruz, 27, of 20 Clay Street, Tamaqua, on a driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol charge was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for six months, with the first 15 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay a $12 daily fee.He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, $300 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, attend alcohol highway safe driving school, complete outpatient substance abuse counseling, perform 10 hours of community service and driver's license suspended 12 months. Cruz was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Matthew Bynon.Gregory J. Covell, 42, of 171 First St., Coaldale, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison followed by four years and 11 months on probation in the IPP, including 90 days under electronic monitor.He was also ordered pay a fine of $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, perform 20 hours community service, license suspended 18 months and when restored install an ignition interlock on his car which monitors if the driver has consumed any alcohol. Covell was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Charles Blesse.Joseph Cullen Hahn, 60, Frackville, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison followed by four years and 11 months in the IPP on strict probation, including 90 days under house arrest with electronic surveillance and pay a $12 daily fee.He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $200 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school, attend and complete long-term residential treatment at a veterans rehab center, his driver's license is suspended 18 months and when restored he must install an ignition interlock on his car for 12 months. On a summary charge of failing to activate turning signals was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Hahn was cited by New Castle Township Patrolman Ronald Romanchik.Samantha Rose Carney, 23, White Haven, on a DUI charge was placed in the IPP for six months with the first 15 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring and paying a $12 daily fee. Carney was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Karl Harig.Kailonna Strachan, 27, Port Carbon, pleaded guilty to charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver,possession and drug paraphernalia. His sentence was deferred to a later date. Strachan was cited by Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.Sean Antoine Hedgepeth, 28, West Hazleton, on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was placed on probation 12 months, and ordered to pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA).On a summary charge of retail theft from Walmart was fined $100 and for possession drug paraphernalia was given a concurrent12 months probation sentenced. Hedgepeth was cited by Rush Township patrolman Scott Cramer.George Cope, 24, Shillington, Berks County, on a charge of possession drug paraphernalia was placed on probation 12 months, and ordered to pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. On a summary charge of failing to have a valild inspection certificate on his car was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Cope was cited by Rush Township Patrolman Adam Sinton, when stopped on Frankfurt St.Justin Washick, 24, Valley View, on a charge of DUI of alcohol and drugs was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Friday, Nov. 18, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school, receive outpatient substance abusement treatment and submit to random tests.On a summary charge of having improper tires on his vehicle was fine $45 plus $50 costs and failing to carry car insurance was fined $300 plus $50 costs. Washick was cited by Trooper Eric Reber when stopped in Hegins.Stephanie Anne Chamberlin, 37, Pottsville, on a charge of acquiring a controlled substance by misrepresentation at a pharmacy was placed on probation 23 months and on a charge of committing an unlawful act received a 12 months probation concurrent sentence. She also must pay $100 to CJEA. She was cited by State Trooper Thomas J. Robin and Pottsville Patrolman Joseph Murton.Jamie Lee Underkoffler, 28, Tower City, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. On a charge of operating a vehicle without an official inspection certificate was fined $25 plus $50 costs. He was cited by Tower City Sgt. John Boyer.Eric M. Lehman, 27, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of loitering and prowling on Saint John Street, was placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. On a charge of criminal mischief to vehicle of Jacqueline Hill was fined $100 and make restitution of $136.75. Lehman was cited by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman Vincent J. McDonald.Alexander James Leschik, 28, Orwigsburg, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. Leschik was cited by Minersville Patrolman Jeffrey R. Bowers.Michael Robert Diehl, Shenandoah, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Monday, Nov. 21, at 9 a.m., fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school and complete outpatient substance abuse treatment. Diehl was cited by Ashland Officer Richard Haraschak III.Conrad Albert Kopdratowicz, 51, Wilkes-Barre, on operating a vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock as ordered by court, was sentenced to serve 30 days to 12 months in prison, however, the sentence was changed to have him serve it under house arrest with electronic monitoring and must pay a $300 fine. He was cited by Trooper Thomas Powell when stopped in SR54 in Mahanoy Township.Deborah Mae Barefoot, 46, Ashland, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $120 to Schuylkill Medical Center and $50 to CJEA. Barefoot was cited by Officer Ashland Richard Haraschak III.Each defendant sentenced must also pay additional court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
