The Strawberry Playhouse, 60 Church St., Tuscarora, will present the murder mystery "Agnes of God" Nov. 4-6.

A classic story of innocence, psychological struggles and faith, "Agnes of God" provides audiences and murder mystery thrill seekers with an adventure into the lives of three women who are unsuspectingly thrown into a situation filled with murder, mystery, mayhem and more.This play will not only challenge the viewer's murder mystery solving abilities, but will also challenge one's ideas about faith, reason, miracles, sacrifice and redemption. In short, this timeless and powerful play will move audience members into thinking about their own lives and ideologies.The doctor is portrayed by Janet Smoldon of Schuylkill County. She works at the IU-29 and is the drama director at Tamaqua Area High School. She says she agreed to be in the show because she finds the character challenging and intriguing."I find a little bit of myself in the character," says Smoldon, "but she is different from me. She's different from me because she doesn't have faith but she wants to."I am thrilled to be doing this performance; the psychology of each character and how they interact," adds Smoldon. "They each have their own independent issues. All three characters go on their own journey as individuals but move together as a group."LouAnn Greenly of Schuylkill County works as a respiratory therapist and will portray Mother Superior.She says she wanted to do this play because she loves the movie."It's been a few years since I've done a show and this was worth taking the time and effort," says Greenly. She describes her character."She's protective, willing to go above and beyond. She's the essence of what a mother is or should be. She's very much like myself. I can say what I want to about my children, but don't let anyone else say something about them."Stephanie Mau, who portrays Agnes, lives in Carbon County and attends The Commonwealth Connections Academy"I thought Agnes was very intriguing and it would be a great experience to step into the character," says Mau. "I felt sympathy toward her. Nobody can understand what she's gone through except her. She is alone, no one knows her past. I feel that Mother Superior was to protect her but not save her. The doctor is trying to save her."Lucille Fala-Brennan, a veteran performer, director and owner of the Strawberry Playhouse, says she has been interested in producing "Agnes of God" for a long time."I saw the play's material as intriguing and intense," says Fala-Brennan. "I have seen the film and the play and I've wanted to do it for years. I just had to wait until I found the right cast and now I have.
