The Carbon Career and Technical Institute Joint Operating Committee voted to use an averaging formula for the budget. The averaging formula will use averages of student enrollment to figure a percentage of what each school district would pay.

CCTI's overall budget is split up with the five Carbon County school districts in an active district share based on student enrollment from each district.Now with the averaging method, CCTI will average each district's enrollment for the past two years and use that number to figure out the percentage each district would need to pay."This change will only affect the percentage split for the districts. This change will not affect the overall dollar amount," stated Business Administrator, Jeffry Deutsch.In the past, CCTI would estimate the enrollment from each school district. However, the enrollment numbers could vary from the estimate and that would change the percentages.Now due to averaging the past two year's enrollment, if there is an increase to the enrollment from a district (compared to the average), that percentage increase will not be seen in the next school year's budget but in future budgets.Deutsch stated that the five school districts suggested this averaging method to the board.In other news, the JOC voted to upgrade the science curriculum with a Chemistry Two program at CCTI.Also, the Culinary Arts students will be taking a trip to the Restaurant School in Philadelphia.Some CCTI staff members are also attending the Twentieth Annual Conference on Integrated Learning: The School-To-Career Connection in November.
