St. John LutheranSt. John Lutheran Church, Lansford, will hold an informal worship tonight at 7 o'clock in the church.This will be a spiritual, peaceful evening service with Holy Communion. Registration is required and will be held at the center on Wednesday, Oct. 19 and Oct. 26 from 5-10 p.m.Trick or TreatTrick or Treat night in Nesquehoning will be Monday, Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m.Panther ValleyGolden AgersVice President Shirley Pavlick opened the Oct. 10 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers with an inspirational reading, Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of God Bless America.Joanne Large gave a background of the Columbus Day observance. Ruth Ann Feane led the group singing. Bingo was enjoyed by all.The next meeting will be held Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Hall, Summit Hill. Members are asked to wear anything appropriate for Halloween. Guest speaker will be Greta Weaver of Quality Personal Care.There will be no indoor rummage sale.Halloween paradeThe Panther Valley Elementary School Halloween parade will take place on Oct. 31 at about 1:45 p.m. from the school throughout the town of Nesquehoning.School bonfirePanther Valley is holding a bonfire tonight at 7 o'clock behind the middle school to celebrate all fall sports teams and organizations.This week celebrates the volleyball team senior night on Thursday evening and a home football game against local rival, Tamaqua.All students, faculty and members of the community are encouraged to attend.Magic ShowThe Panther Valley Public Library, 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, will hold a Magic Show at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22.Lt. Dave Midas, from the Carbon County Sheriff's Office, will be there to give handouts and talk about trick or treat safety. Refreshments will follow the program.Children must preregister by calling the library at (570) 645-3780. Children must be accompanied by a parent. There will be a fee of 50 cents per child and a canned good, to be donated to the Panther Valley Shepherd House Food Pantry, from the parent.The Summit Hill Heritage Center is helping sponsor this event.
