Members of the Carbon Schuylkill Industrial Development Corporation recently presented the Nesquehoning Conservation Club with a check for $500.

The money will be used to help with the upkeep of the Nesquehoning Creek, as well as cover some of the costs associated with the club's annual children's fishing derby.Sam Kitchko, secretary/treasurer of the Nesquehoning Conservation Club, thanked the CSIDC members in attendance for their support and donation.The Nesquehoning Conservation Club was established in 2005.Its mission is to promote field and stream conservation and good sportsmanship, help stimulate public awareness of fishing in the Nesquehoning Creek, make sure conservation codes are followed and promote community involvement in field and stream activities.CSIDC has been helping the community since its inception in 1957.Over the years it has worked to establish industrial companies like Silberline Manufacturing Company and Ametek in the area, began the Green Acres Industrial Park in the Hauto Valley of Nesquehoning, and has become a driving force financially to organizations who promote tourism and historical preservation in the region.
