One man was arraigned yesterday and arrest warrants were issued for two others on charges stemming from the alleged robbery and beating of a man in Lansford on Aug. 17.

Nickolas Daniel Lorah, 22, of Lansford was arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek in Lansford after voluntarily turning himself into police after learning he faced the charges.Kosciolek set bail at $5,000 unsecured, with several conditions imposed including that he have no contact with the victim and that he not get into any more trouble involving the police between now and his trial.Arrest warrants have been issued for co-defendants James Jason Neff Jr., 28, no listed address, and Benjamin Kunkel, 35, of Lansford. Coincidentally Kunkel was to appear at Kosciolek's office as a victim in an assault case, but failed to do so. Police were prepared to arrest him at that time. As a result, simple assault charges against Michael Furey of Lansford, who was charged in that incident, were dismissed.The charges against Lorah, Neff, and Kunkel stem from an incident on Aug. 17 at about 9:04 p.m. in the vicinity of the Turkey Hill parking lot in Lansford.Officer Robert Shubeck of the Lansford Police Department, who responded, said he received a report that Bodean Boggs (no address listed) was assaulted by three males who also stole his wallet.According to the affidavit, Bodean left the Turkey Hill, walked through the parking lot, and was followed by the three defendants. They then allegedly assaulted him and threw him to the ground while they went through his pockets.The affidavit says, "The victim and witnesses said Lorah was on top of him while he was on the ground and choked him while Neff tore his pants and pants pocket and stole his wallet."Shubert said both Loran and Kunkel spoke to him afterward and gave written statements, admitting to being involved in the crime.It was also indicated by Shubeck there were allegations by some of the defendants that drug money transactions played a role in the matter.The defendants are charged with criminal conspiracy, robbery, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, simple assault, and harassment.
