New Ringgold man pleads to indecent assault counts

Seven area residents were among 24 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges recently in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge John E. Domalakes as follows:

Lee F. Dermo, 26, of 29 Mush Dahl Road, New Ringgold, pleaded guilty to two charges of indecent assault and was ordered to submit to an evaluation through the state's sexual offenders assessment board and his sentence was deferred pending the evaluation.He was also ordered not to have any contact with the victim or the victim's family. John Kaczmarczyk.Justin David Blume, 38, of 16 Golf Road, Barnesville, was sentenced on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering Vicki Jones, New Philadelphia Road, West Brunswick Township, to serve 47 months on probation after receiving credit for spending 44 days in the county prison, pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), undergo a mental health and drug alcohol evaluation and have no contact with the victim. Laughlin, 52, of 545 Elm St., Tamaqua, driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, sentenced to serve 30 days to 12 months in the county prison beginning Friday, Aug. 26, at 9 a.m., fined $750, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, attend alcohol highway safe driving school, receive chemical dependency treatment, driver's license suspended 12 months and when restored to install ignition interlock on car for 12 months and submit to random tests. Munoz, 47, of 34 Meadow Avenue, Tamaqua, on simple assault of Rush Township police officer and resisting arrest was placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. He was cited by Patrolman Richard Bekesy.Dmitry Partin, 22, of Evergreen Drive and River Road , Tamaqua R.D., was sentenced on two counts of DUI and one count each of criminal conspiracy, DUI of drugs, possession of a small amount of marijuana and public drunkenness. He received credit for spending 63 days in the county prison and was released on parole for 18 months, pay $3,025 in fines, $300 to SAE fund, $150 to CJEA, $50 to Catastrophe fund, make restitution of $352 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, $120 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment, attend Teen Challenge Inpatient Treatment Center and license suspended 12 months.He was cited for the criminal charges by Rush Township Patrolman Corey Herring; West Penn Township Patrolman Jason Lorah; and Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell.Brian R. Kehl, 28, of 218 W. Patterson St., Lansford, was sentenced on a retail theft charge to serve on probation for 18 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $2616 to Walmart Store, Rush Township, for theft of a video game. He was cited by Patrolman Richard Bekesy.Hans Kyle Sims, 29, of 1125 E. Pine St., Mahanoy City, was sentenced on a charge of DUI to be placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for six months, including 15 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay a $12 daily fee, fined of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, attend safety school, receive outpatient treatment and license suspended 12 months. Gartner, Breiningsville, sentenced to serve six to 23 months in the county prison with credit for serving two days, pay $150 to CJEA, and is eligible for work release. Hoffman pleaded guilty to two counts each of forgery, identity theft and giving false report to West Penn Patrolman Jeremy Talanca, and also to Trooper Mario Pompei. He also was fined $200 plus $50 costs for driving while his license was suspended. He begins his prison sentence on Sept. 2 at 9 a.m.David John Boppel Jr., 36, Ashland, was sentenced on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison beginning Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 9 a.m., followed by four years and 11 months on strict probation in the IPP, fined $1,500. pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school, complete intensive outpatient counseling, continue with Self Help Recovery Group, license suspended 12 months and when restored must install an ignition interlock device on his car for 12 months. Boppel was cited by Ashland Patrolman Mark O'Hearn.Anthony William Britton, 51, Ashland, was sentenced on a DUI charge to serve 30 days in the county prison beginning Friday, Aug. 26, at 9 a.m., followed by four years and 11 months on probation in the IPP, fined $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $180 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school, complete intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment, license suspended 12 months and when restored must install an ignition interlock on his car for 12 months. Britton was cited by Butler Township Patrolman Raymond Horan.Nikki E. Klock, 26, Pitman, Eldred Township, was sentenced on a DUI charge to serve 30 days in the county prison beginning Thursday, Sept. 1, at 9 a.m. followed by four years and 11 months on probation in the IPP, fined $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school, perform 10 hours community sevice, license suspended 12 months and when restored install ignition interlock on car for 12 months. Klock was cited by Trooper Kurt Salak when stopped on Deep Creek Road in Hegins Township.Christopher Scott Eckert, 32, Schuylkill Haven, was sentenced on a DUI charge to serve 30 days in the county prison beginning Monday, Aug. 22, at 5 p.m. followed by four years and 11 months on probation in the IPP, fined $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school, undergo intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment, license suspended 18 months and when restored install a ignition interlock device on his car for 12 months. On a summary charge of disorderly conduct was fined $25 and costs. Eckert was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Richard J. Pugh.Dustin W. Kute, 31, Lykens, was sentenced on a charge of possession drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance to serve 12 months on probation, pay $200 to SAE fund, $100 to CJEA and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Beau Yarmush.Andrew John Levan, 36, Pine Grove, was sentenced on a DUI charge to serve five days to six months in the county prison beginning Friday, Sept. 2, at 9 a.m., fined $300, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, attend safety school, receive substance abuse outpatient treatment and license suspended 12 months. The court also ordered she continue with substance abuse treatment.,Phelicia Ann Schuller, 20, Saint Clair, was sentenced on a charge of criminal mischief to serve five days to 23 months in the county prison beginning Monday, Aug. 22, at 9 a.m., pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $1,804 to Bridget Barto, Minersville, and $3,565.85 to Allstate Insurance Company. She also was directed not to have any contact with the victim and stay away from victim's property at 232 Middle Street. Schuler was cited by Minersville Patrolman Thomas Hoban.James Scott Tropp, 44, Pottsville, was sentenced on a charge of possession of an instrument of crime (colt handgun) and was placed on probation for 36 months, fined $200, pay $50 to CJEA, and perform 20 hours of community service. Tropp was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Paul R. Olson.Christopher Patrick Ward, 20, Pottsville, was sentenced on a charge of public drunkenness to pay a fine of $300 and $50 to CJEA. Steven Stinsky, state police, when stopped in Norwegian Township.Troy Allen Zukosky, 30, Pottsville, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Friday, Sept. 26, at 9 a.m., fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school, undergo outpatient treatment and license suspended 12 months. He was cited by Frackville Patrolman George Parnell.John Michael Edwards, 26, Pottsville, on a charge of receiving stolen property was sentenced to serve nine to 24 months in a state correctional institution, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $2,767.11 to Alvin Wetzel, $250 to Joseph Kephart, both of Pottsville, and $2,400.92 to Erie Insurance Company. Edwards was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Brian Reno.Brandie Lynn Haluska, 31, Pottsville, on a charge of retail theft from Giant Market, Pottsville, was given credit for serving 52 days in the county prison and was released on parole for 18 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and $50 to district attorney's office. Haluska was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Kirk Becker.Jeffrey C. Swiger, 44, Pottsville, on a charge of retail theft from Walmart Store, Rush Township, was sentenced to serve nine to 24 months in a state correctional institution, pay $50 to CJEA. The sentence is to run concurrent with a sentence imposed by Berks County Court. Swiger was cited by Patrolman Richard Bekesy.Russell Armand Helton, also known as Ashley Armand Shaffer, 35, Mahanoy City, on a charge of giving a false indentification to Trooper Timothy M. Keating when stopped on SR61 in New Castle Township, was sentenced to serve three to 12 months in a state correctional institution and the sentence to run concurrent with a sentence imposed by Cumberland County Court and pay $50 to CJEA. On a summary charge of driving an unregistered vehicle was fined $75 plus $50 costs and failing to carry car insurance fined $300 plus $50 costs.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
