Two security personnel at the Pocono International Raceway in Long Pond, Monroe County, were stabbed during a confrontation at the track early on Sunday, Aug. 7, and a Montgomery County man has been jailed, charged with stabbing the two.

Pocono Mountrain Regional police identified the suspect as Daniel Kupper, 20, of Melrose Park. He has been charged with aggravated and simple assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and underage drinking. He was arraigned on the charges before District Judge Anthony D. Fluegel, of Mt. Pocono, and committed to the county prison in Snydersville in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.According to police about 3:21 a.m. officers were dispatched to the staging area of the race track. The investigation revealed that the driver of a van in which Kupper was a passenger, disobeyed traffic direction given by event staff. An argument took place. Kupper exited the vehicle and began fighting with the event staff.During the argument Kupper allegedly stabbed two staff members, identified by police as a 55 and 49 year old males, who are employed by Strike Force Security Company. Police declined to release the victim's names.The 49-year-old male was taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Plains Township, where he was treated for lacerations to his neck, shoulder and back, and released. The 55-year-old victim was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where he was treated for stab wounds to his left front collarbone, left rear shoulder and his upper back. He was admitted in stable condition, police said.Also arrested at the scene was another passenger in the van, Louis Kupper, 23, of Elkins Park, Montgomery County. He was charged with simple assault, furnishing alcohol to a minor, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was placed in the county prison on a parole violation detainer, police added.
