Army Corps Engineers announces whitewater releases in August

The U.S. Army Corps Engineers, Philadelphia District, has announced it will hold whitewater releases Aug. 27 and Aug. 28 from the Francis E. Walter Dam. A rainy season has enabled the Corps to schedule the two water releases in August. The whitewater releases will be approximately 650 cubic feet per second of water. They would bring the total number of whitewater events to 21 for 2011. The Corps will continue to utilize storage for weekday and weekend fisheries enhancement water releases of 100 cubic feet per second through Aug. 5 and 50 cubic feet per second through Sept 11.
