Trace Adkins at the Peak on Aug. 28

One of country music's biggest names is making a stop at Penn's Peak in August.

Trace Adkins, whose hits include "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk," "You're Gonna Miss This," and "Every Light in the House is On," will be here on Sunday, Aug. 28.It's one of three new concerts announced for Penn's Peak. The others are Melvin Seals & JGB on Thursday, Oct. 6, and Get the Led Out, a Led Zeppelin tribute band, on Saturday, Nov. 5.Tickets for all three concert events will go on sale Saturday, July 9.Life has been hectic of late for Adkins. He released a new album, has has devoted himself to joining a national Civil War Trust effort to help preserve land in Gettysburg, and he accepted a random request from a student to speak at a high school graduation in North Carolina. With the release of his latest, Cowboy's Back In Town, Trace launches a new chapter in one of the genre's most storied careers.Musically, he shows himself to be at the top of his game. The mix is classic Trace, with "Still Love You" serving as the anchor of the tender side, bringing that national treasure of a voice to bear on a declaration of eternal love in a first-rate meeting of sound and sentiment. On the other side, songs like "I Can Do That" and "Hold My Beer" find Trace bringing to life good-old-boy tales about the entertainment world and weddings, respectively. In fact, if the album leans in one direction, it would be toward that rowdy side.Melvin Seals is best known as being a long-time member of the Jerry Garcia Band.Get the Led Out has made numerous appearances at Penn's Peak and always draws a very large crowd.
