He also has expressed a lot of pride in the work.He states in his press materials, "For better or worse, the songs on this album do reflect where I am at in my life right now in one way or another. I couldn't define where that is exactly, but suffice to say when I hear these songs, they all make sense to me."He adds, "The truth is I do put a lot of myself into my music. If people out there listening feel that it's me in these songs, that means I'm probably doing my job. At the same time, I believe that anyone who's ever fallen in love - or out of love - should be able to hear themselves in this album, too."His publicist writes, "Like some rocking Sinatra album for the 21st century, Mr. Lucky is a song cycle about the good luck we earn and the bad luck we just can't seem to shake."While certainly his music has gotten Isaak widespread recognition, some TV and movie appearances have definitely added to his popularity."The Chris Isaak Show" aired on the Showtime TV network from 2001 to 2004. On the show, he played himself and featured members of his band as well as numerous musical guests. On the Friends episode, which was possibly the most watched episode in the series, he had the role of a library worker. He did a duet on the segment with Phoebe.Movies in which he has appeared include "Married to the Mob," "The Silence of the Lambs," Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me," "That Thing You Do," and "A Dirty Shame."He played Astronaut Edward White II in the HBO miniseries "From the Earth to the Moon."Presently he hosts The Chris Isaak Hour, a weekly one-hour interview show featuring music's most popular artists. Intelligent, thoughtful and sometimes irreverent, Isaak invites musical guests to relive the highs and lows of their careers through a blend of storytelling and performance.Of course, the Penn's Peak appearance is about his music.Among his successes was his international breakthrough smash "Wicked Game."Other recordings have been "Baby Did A Bad, Bad Thing" and "Somebody's Crying."Standout tracks on Mr. Lucky include "Cheater's Town," his intimate travelogue of heartbreak; "We Let Her Down," the first single from the LP, and "You Don't Cry Like I Do," a searing song of love and loss that reaches the operatic heights of Roy Orbison, one of Isaak's greatest heroes and an individual who assisted Isaak in his music career.Isaak remarked through his publicist, "Every night, we try to do a great show for people because we know they may have hired a babysitter and driven a hundred miles just to see us. We take that responsibility seriously, even if we don't take ourselves too seriously. But as much fun as we have, we take pride in trying to live up to the respect people show us."He added, "I have my dream job, and I'm still working. And you just don't get any luckier than that."
