A Lehighton man who fled police at an accident scene by jumping over a wall and dropping about 20-40 feet, entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to a prison term Thursday in Carbon County court. He was one of several defendants in pending criminal cases to enter a plea before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

Mahoning incidentTrevor Hunsicker, 23, pleaded guilty to one count of flight to avoid apprehension and was sentenced to serve two to 18 months in the county prison.Hunsicker was arrested for an incident that occurred on Nov. 10, 2010, along SR209 in Mahoning Township, near the border with Jim Thorpe, on the Mansion House Hill.An accident occurred at that location and caused much debris to be thrown onto the road. Jim Thorpe police were responding to assist township police when a Chevrolet in front of them failed to yield the right-of-way to the cruiser, which had its emergency lights activated.The Chevrolet was stopped at the accident scene because the road had been shutdown. The driver of the Chevrolet exited the vehicle and ran toward a stone wall along the berm and jumped over it, dropping 20-40 feet.The passenger in the vehicle identified the driver as Hunsicker. A search of the area and across the Lehigh River was conduct as police felt Hunsicker could have injured himself due jumping over the wall and the steep drop.Hunsicker managed to avoid the police until Jan. 31 when he was spotted by an off-duty township officer in a Chucky Cheese restaurant in Whitehall. He was taken into custody and returned to Carbon on a warrant issued for his flight from the accident scene.Hunsicker told Nanovic he sustained a fracture to the ankle when he jumped over the wall but was able to continue his flight. He said he fled because he knew there was an active warrant out for his arrest issued by the domestic relations department. He was on probation at the time on another count and is facing a probation revocation hearing.Nanovic gave him credit for 18 days spent in jail on the charge. Hunsicker has been in the county prison since Jan. 29 on a probation violation detainer.Other pleasOther defendants who entered pleas included:Jarred Kane Klager, 23, of Lehighton, failed to appear for an appointment with the adult probation office and yesterday he paid the price.Klager entered a plea to one count of default in required appearance and was sentenced by Nanovic to serve five to 10 months in the county prison.Klager was arrested on March 23 at the lower park in Lehighton by members of the adult probation office and borough police.His probation on another charge has already been revoked and he is currently serving a prison term in Lehigh County for that violation.Nanovic ruled the prison terms run concurrently.Anthony L. Colcolugh-Goring, 24, of Bronx, N.Y., pleaded guilty to one count each of criminal conspiracy-criminal trespass and conspiracy-criminal mischief.He was arrested for an incident that occurred on Dec. 7, 2005, at the Schoolhouse Apartments in Summit Hill. He and another individual illegally entered the apartment building and then set off fire extinguishers causing damages. They fled prior to the arrival of police.He was located near Albany, N.Y., and returned to Carbon.On the trespass count Nanovic sentenced him to time served (85 days) to 18 months in jail and ordered he get a D&A evaluation, supply a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, and make restitution to the owners of the apartment complex $1,945.35 for damages. On the mischief charge he was placed on probation for a year, which runs consecutive to the first sentence.Pamela Bennett, 51, of Long Branch, N.J., and formerly of Jim Thorpe, pleaded guilty to one count of welfare fraud. She was charged by the state Department of Welfare with receiving $1,007 in welfare stamps when she was not entitled to them. At the time she resided in Jim Thorpe.Nanovic placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to make restitution to the welfare department in the amount stated. She was given credit for 99 days spent in jail on the charge.Travis Edward Moll, 20, of Northampton, and formerly of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of furnishing alcohol to minors. He was arrested on Aug. 24, 2009, at the Palmerton address where borough police responded to a report of an underage drinking party. Found in the apartment were Moll and six other males, all underage. Moll, who was also underage at the time, admitted purchasing the beer for the party.Nanovic placed him on probation for a year and ordered he render three hours of community service per month while on probation and suspended his license for a year, which is required by law for such an offense.Alex Weiner, 19, of Walnutport, pleaded to one count of retail theft. He was arrested on July 19, 2010, at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township for taking $10 worth of merchandise without paying for it.Nanovic placed him on probation for six months.Oswaldo Davila, 48, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of simple assault. He was arrested for an incident in the 100 block of N. First St., Lehighton, by borough police, which occurred on June 1, 2010. The listed victim of the assault was Shawn Murphy. It was stated that the assault stemmed from a dispute over money between the two men.Nanovic placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $250.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
