Marion Sobolewski, of 100 Grove St. in Kline Township, located outside McAdoo, escaped serious injury in a fiery blaze that destroyed her single home around 12:30 a.m. today.

Firefighters responded with the report of a person trapped inside the dwelling.After hearing an explosion and seeing her home completely fill with fire and smoke, Sobolewski quickly exited her home. Firefighters, arriving from multiple counties, worked quickly to spray water on the fast-moving blaze.Sobolewski, who was covered head to toe with smoke ash, was helped off her front porch by nearby neighbors. One nearby neighbor, observing the damage, said that the fire must have been burning for a while before anyone reported it.Despite a quick response from firefighters the house was destroyed. A white cat is unaccounted for.Sobolewski, who refused medical treatment and is staying with family, told neighbors that the fire appeared to start in the back of her home. A state police fire marshal is expected to be on scene today to investigate the cause of the fire.Fire companies from Tamaqua, McAdoo, Hometown, Ryan Township, Delano, Quakake, Mahanoy City, Hazleton and others responded. Tanker trucks were used heavily to fight the fire as water pressure was depleted quickly. Firefighters remained on scene until around 4 a.m.Hometown, McAdoo and other fire police controlled traffic around the scene for the duration.Firefighters were recalled to the scene an hour later when the fire rekindled.
