That's exactly what clients at Blue Mountain Health Systems Adult Day Services have come to expect this time of year.They certainly didn't leave the facility's seventh annual Valentine's Day party held earlier this week on a somber note.As has become customary at the facility, a new king and queen were once again crowned.Frank Yale, 80, of Palmerton, and Marie Walters, 77, of Walnutport, were selected king and queen, respectively.While neither Yale nor Walters offered any remarks, both wore smiles as fellow clients looked on.Roxanne Downs, director of Adult Day Services, said Yale and Walters were chosen for the distinction by their peers, as each of the clients voted their selection for king and queen.Downs said the clients thoroughly enjoy the event each year because they give and receive warm wishes."It's a great event; we have entertainment, special baked goods," Downs said. "Anytime we can celebrate, it's a good day."The Adult Day Service Center of the Blue Mountain Health System provides state-licensed respite care for older adults.In addition to free time and ample rest periods, clients participate in a wide variety of activities based on the client's particular abilities, including daily exercise, crafts, games, puzzles, pet therapy, cooking and baking, gardening, dancing, bingo, needlepoint and sewing, music and sing-a-longs, "theme weeks" and field trips.Daily nursing supervision allows for the monitoring of clients' medical conditions.
